10:26 am - A very belated announcement
Natalie Louise was born on the 3rd December 2007 weighing 7lbs 2oz.

I'm finding it so much easier the second time round but it helps that Natalie is a very easy and laid back baby.  Her big sister adores her and we're really chuffed as we could not have asked for a better reaction from her.

09:01 am - Result!!

Since we moved the small into the back room she has been waking up at the crack of dawn.

We had a blackout blind fitted yesterday and she didn't wake up until 7.40 so I had a lie in.  YAY.

I do vaguely remember the days when a 7.40 wake-up call was most definitely not a lie in.

11:05 pm - Three things I have learned about my bonsai tree
      1. That bonsai is not a breed of tree but simply japanese meaning tree in a tray
      2. That my tree is an "informal upright"
      3. That my tree is doomed.

12:53 am - Thank you Queenortart
Thank you very much [info]queenortart for paying for my account. I only just read the email - I hadn't noticed the change on LJ (doh)

Now I can upload squillions of photos - I promise that they won't all be of littleB.

Speaking of photos, the wedding photographer dropped off the proof photos of the wedding. He was very taken with [info]queenortart and [info]fractalgeek, so much so that he has given us two photos to pass on to you guys. One is a really good picture of the pair of you and the second is a corking photo of queenortart in The Hat.

The other person he was quite impressed with was [info]teawith who gave the first reading during the ceremony. He said that [info]teawithwas one of the best speakers that he had ever heard (and as you can imagine he has heard quite a few in his time). In his words "she put the piece over perfectly, with just the right intonations and she really stood out"

[info]teawith will no doubt be slightly mortified to hear that the whole thing was captured on video.

We will be getting some of the pictures on a cd so I will be able to upload some to here.

07:17 pm - New York, New York....

Wedding went well - I felt relatively calm on the day.

Funny thing is that I paid little attention to the words of the ceremony until the registrar was reading them out for the groom to repeat.  At which I point I suddenly realised that there were words I would normally have problems with saying (ie more than three syllables) for example impediment and matrimony.  Apparently you could tell that I was concentrating really hard and didn't stutter (hurrah)

Now in New York on honeymoon - have done lots of walking.  Have been shopping, building spotting, been to the theatre and eaten in some seriously good food and its only our second full day here.

11:52 pm - Pre-wedding tipple suggestions

OK - I decided that I didn't want my Dad giving me away for various reasons but one of the main reasons (and the one I gave my Dad) was that I'm 34 years old and have been with the man I am marrying for 16 years, living together for almost 10 years and have a 15 month old daughter.  The idea of being given away is frankly ludicrous.

However I overlooked one critical function of this particular tradition - getting the bride down the bloody aisle without her bottling it.

I've decided that my bridesmaid is going to follow me but I feel that I may need a dose of dutch courage first , the wedding is not until 3pm so hard spirits may not be out of place.

Any suggestions?

08:47 pm - Pyrates

I had a fantastic time at the weekend freeform; I had my customary Saturday afternoon slump but then perked up again. I was a bit stymied by the events of the early evening and felt my character was dead in the water until I had a true in character moment of inspiration which OK pretty much devastated my character's life (not to mention her family too) but led to a very interesting and enjoyable Sunday morning.

I did the angst thing for the first time in years and enjoyed it immensely; I have to admit my character followed a very different path to one I imagined from reading the character sheet.

Had fun brooding on the Sunday morning until I was kidnapped by heathens which is one of my favourite moments – indomitable in the face of impending sacrifice Mary balked when she was displayed to all as most definitely a woman (and hence not a warrior) and sent off to be the wife of one of the savages who made his intentions clear (thanks Nickey). Fortunately Mary  was rescued from a fate worse than death by Captain Jack (amply aided by jam, a cooking pot and a sash)

Overall I interacted with less people than normal but was busier than previous games.

Oh yes I finished one dress in the morning before leaving for Retford and finished the second on the Saturday night five minutes before time in.

10:19 am - I still don't have a frock for pyrates....

Nearly finished one - just need to attach the sleeve and hem the bottom, however if  I don't want to be somewhat fragrant by Sunday I really need to get the second dress completed.

Sometime in October I actually bought material to make a third dress and was reasonably optimistic that I would have time to make it.  Since then much has happened to scupper my plans and I am quite frankly feeling somewhat doomed.

The second dress is probably about a third complete (the skirt only needs the waistband sewing on) I'm hoping that the robe part will go quicker now that I've made one and worked out what to do.

On the plus side the frock stress has meant that I've had no time to worry about the wedding which is good - I expect that to hit round about 3pm on Saturday at Pyrates - maybe I should have a large glass of red on standby (or maybe white depending on which colour frock I'm wearing at the time.)

Wish me luck

10:45 pm
It's all getting rather real now... I have received my first piece of mail addressed to my soon to be new name.

I glanced at the envelope and my first thought was that is was misdelivered mail, it was another few seconds before my brain caught up and I realised that the name on the front was me with a "Mrs" and everything.  Inside was my new passport complete with spy gadget.

01:17 am - Dilemma
Hmm baby is not kicking the bars of her cot.

She is asleep.

With her head in the corner of the cot.

Headbanging?

Now the question is do I move her?

In true knackered mother style I am not so worried about her hurting herself but  whether moving her will wake her up.  The dilemma comes from the fact that she woke herself up at 11pm when she banged her head on the cot....repeatedly.

This resulted in the 15 min screamarama, 15 mins cooing in the playpen, 2 mins demanding to be released from playpen, the 5 min tussle for mummy's mouse, 5 mins happily chewing on mummy's mouse, 2 min tussle for mouse when mummy would not let her chew on the wire and another 2 mins of flopping around the floor in a tantrum (her not me in case you are wondering) and finally being carried off back to bed still wailing where the traditional protest of shaking one's bars continued for 30 mins.

God I sound like a crap mother but the banging has stopped but I'd best go and move her anyway.

Arrrgghh

I realise none of you will have a bloody clue what I'm going on about but its my journal and I'm going to vent.

........and I can hear the baby kicking the bars of her cot.

I think I had my first pre-wedding nerves nightmare last night.  Can't remember the details but it was something to do with the dress and somewhat bizarrely watching the new James Bond movie which wasn't very good. *boggles*

10:37 am - A bit o'swash and a bit o'buckle

OK there was more than a bit of swashbuckling when we went to see Pirates 2 last night but Keith made me sit down when the trailers started.

I really enjoyed the film; a bit difficult to say whether it was as good as the first.  We watched the first film the night before and I think the first film has a wittier script but I enjoyed the action sequences more in the second film.  Plus there were moments in the second film when I was definitely squeeing in delight.

09:39 pm - Where does the time go...

Can't believe that it's now over a week since I got back from my little shopping trip in London.  I am now the proud owner of a rather spiffy tiara which met my criteria of not being all sparkly and glittery like all the other wedding tiaras I have seen so far.  Also came away with some nice jewelry to complete the look but which were such a bargain that it won't be a waste if I see something else that I like.

Successfully navigated the tube, but it's so well signposted it wasn't really that hard.

Thanks to [info]queenortart and [info]fractalgeek for providing bed, wine and food (I really appreciated [info]getting up early to put the oven on for croissants).  I did get all excited about the possibilty of more than six hours sleep but blew it by sitting up chatting with queenortart till gone 2am both mornings.

I had a lot of fun shopping even when it got stressful buying [info]teawith's frock material and met up with [info]ibarhis too!

A very enjoyable weekend!

01:32 am - Tiara Shopping
Ok - sorry it's taken me so long to get this sorted.

I've checked out trains and it looks like it would be easier for me to catch the train direct to London rather than Oxford.  It will also be cheaper for me to get singles so I can easily get a train down to London and then maybe go back to Oxford with Nickey and get the train home from there.

To maximise shopping time I'm thinking of coming down on Friday night.

Let me know your thoughts.

01:11 am - Evil parents pt II
Now I think it is every parents duty to at some point dress their child in something that will cause them great embarrassment in future years. Now I thought we had it sussed. Took a picture of the baby in a little santa outfit at christmas (she looked like a little gnome) and gave the picture to both grandmothers in a nice frame so it will be on display for all to see.

However Keith has taken things a step further, he has bought her not one but two England football strips. I left the pair of them watching the football on Saturday in their respective football shirts; apparently she enjoyed the match.

12:32 am - Bats, Bikes & Oscars
Had a great time at Maycon.

It was really good to see everyone, the hotel was good, the staff were excellent and it fell very civilized to fly down to London rather than train it.

Only one freeform, played a highschool girl who joined the local biker gang, fell in love and got kicked out because we were going to <gasp> be monogamous. Highlights of the game: loosing multiple drinking contests, failing to get past 2nd base wih practically everyone, going on a date and cheering on the racers from the sidelines.  I really liked the game mechanics for the races.  The racers would write down what they were planning to do, the GM would then reveal the track conditions and then the spectators would decide what happened.  Usually games involving races/contests can be quite boring for those not directly involved but this worked out really well.  I did feel sorry for the GM though, at one point the poor man yelled will "you please stop roleplaying" while trying to run the race.  As usual I think players broke the GM but I think he was pretty happy (albeit knackered) at the end of the game.  Overall great fun.

The evening freeform was cancelled and instead we played Hollywood Nights/Lives (can't remember the exact name)  Had to laugh when I discovered that </font>[info]ibarhisand me were both primadonnas and thus despised each other.  I don't think we've ever played in a game when we got on together.  It was a bit of an odd mix between roleplaying and performance in that we had to form production teams, bid on a movie treatment and then create the trailer ie perform (complete with spoilers) for oscar night.  My first group were ultra organised and had our production for "Ben Who?" ready pretty quickly - I think the charriot race went particularly well.  Oh yes and I won an oscar for best actress (whheeee - I'm not competitive, honest guv) OK I had to share the honours but hey I voted for the other winner so I was obviously the real winner (j/k)

Second film we ran into a problem in that players had dropped out so there was only three of us in our group.  This prompted a bidding war for Leopold the Bear who I think cost more money than the rest of the productions put together.  But he was worth every penny sorry dollar.  Our film was "The Big Sheep" really silly plot but I got to wear some excellent comedy specs and we kinda cheated as went and kidnapped Micheal C to dub for the bear.

Finally played a tabletop game Sunday morning - Ultraviolet- really enjoyed the scenario which had all the players pulling their hair out while the GM sat in the corner going "maw haw haw"

Really glad I decided to go despite all my whining about it being in London and will most likely go next year if its at the same hotel.  Many thanks to [info]queenortart for being queenly and organising everything.
